What should I bring?

I’ll provide all the fishing gear and tackle. Bring at least a small ice chest, even if you prefer to leave it in your vehicle. You’ll need something to drink and eat. Whatever type of sunscreen you like. And yes, you’ll need a fishing license.

 

Do I need a fishing license?

Yes! If you’re only planning to fish a couple of days this year, short-term licenses are available. You can get a Texas saltwater fishing license online through TX Parks and Wildlife. They also sell licenses at Ace Hardware, HEB, Tackle Town, Stripes, and Walmart. Check https://tpwd.texas.gov/ for details.

 

Where should I stay in Rockport?

There are plenty of options for any budget, and many hotels were renovated and improved after 2017’s Hurricane Harvey. The Lighthouse Inn has great views and amenities. The new Fairfield Marriot is popular, though budget-conscious anglers may be satisfied with the no-frills package at the Motel 6. How long is a day of guided fishing?

Depending on the time of year, we can spend about six hours on the water, starting at dawn. In the spring and fall, when it doesn’t get quite so hot quite so fast, we’re able to spend a bit more time on the water.

What kind of boat will we be on?

We will be aboard a 25 foot Tidewater Performance Cat (TPC), powered by a Yamaha 250 SHO.

 

Where do we meet you in the morning?

There are numerous boat ramps around the area, so depending on the time of year and targeted species I will let you know where the day before.
 

 

What happens with the fish I catch?

Marshall will clean and package your catch. You’ll want to bring at least a small ice chest in your vehicle. If you have a rental property in Rockport, you may choose to cook the fish yourself, or you can take your catch to a local restaurant.What restaurants will cook my fish?With Crab-N Restaurant, the “bring your own fish” option starts at $15. Paradise Key will also cook your fish for $13.99 per person. If you have any other tips, let me know.

 

Where can I get my own bait or gear?

I’ll provide all the tackle and fishing-related supplies for guided trips. If you’re looking to do some fishing on your own, I get bait at Capt. Cady’s Bait House. There are several options, including Sea Gun Bait and Tackle Town.​
